Food

Dave (who catered bike bike) is available to cater our retreat.  He says $4 a person for lunch or dinner, and slightly less for breakfast.  He also says he can go higher or lower depending on what we want to eat - basic vs. gourmet.

I'm estimating we will have 12-14 people (Erok, Andalu, Shaun, Stuart, Jake, Jami, Jessica, Elijah, Morgan, Zack?, Diane? Will? + 2 facilitators).  So, just to be safe I'll do the math with 14.

without breakfast -

14 people * $4 * 4 meals (2 lunch, 2 dinner) = $224

with breakfast (7-grain pancakes, oatmeal, granola cereal, bagels & fruit were options Dave offered)

$56-$84 (depending on if I assume breakfast is $2 or $3) + $224 = $280- $308

Dave also said he could provide tea, coffee, juice during the day.  I didn't get whether that would be extra or not, we've only talked once.  He's going to give me a list of stuff he could make (presumably with prices included) soon.  Which I will happily hand off to someone else who is willing to handle food from here on out (please get in touch, you special someone!).

So here's the voting...

should we use Dave?

Jessica - yes

Jake - yes

Jami-yes

morgan - yep

how much (roughly) should we spend on food?

(these are just my estimates & assumptions about what people will want, if you have a different idea of which meals we should eat together or how much they should cost feel free to suggest it...)

$224 (comment on how breakfast should happen if this is your choice) $280 (basic breakfast)

$308

comments / other ideas
Jessica   +   I don't really care very much; it seems like kind of a lot, but worth the hassle of not worrying about it.  Unless someone wants to volunteer  to deal with some aspects of food.
jake    + + $308 seems reasonable to me, but paying less is fine too.
stuart    ++  Prefer more, less is fine.
jami     ++   This seems like a deal for so many folks for prep/cook/and cleanup. Plus I think Dave has skills as demonstrated at BIKE BIKE. I feel like we'd be eating really well, but I actually haven't ever dealt with budgeting such a thing. I can temper my vote if this seems extravagant for the retreat.
will        Whatever you folks want to do is fine by me. $308 sounds like a great deal... pretty cheap.
morgan      ++  $308 seems cheap, I'm surly without breakfast. Well, I'm surly anyway, but whatevs.
